A Cool 98 Degrees

Last night, I had to walk to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. I had waited awhile after we got home and had dinner to head out, hoping it would have significantly cooled down from the 101 degree temperature I’d gotten to experience while waiting for my bus. Surprisingly, it was noticeably cooler out.

Then, I realized, it was still 98 degrees. The humidity was still at the same low levels (thank heavens!) but those three little degrees made all the difference.

So, I made a corny joke with the pharmacist. “It’s a cool 98 degrees out.”

He laughed, being one of those kind, neighborhood pharmacists who usually deals with little old ladies.

But, what I’m really wanting to tell you all is this: I have finished the bottom portion of the cardigan I started last week. I managed a lot of knitting time over the long weekend (despite both a family gathering and a work party) and managed to get through it. Also, watching Matt play rather difficult, violent video games helps me focus. If I pay attention to my knitting versus his repeated failures (“Mission failed. You have been killed.”), I can make great process in an afternoon.

Sweater Front

Now, it’s the sleeves I’m fighting with. I hate knitting sleeves in the round but am crappy at seaming so it’s really my only option. It’s really slow going as I’ve only got one needle of the right size and am having to Magic Loop it. Oh well, the sleeves will get finished over the course of the week and maybe, just maybe, I’ll get the whole sweater finished over the weekend. Or not. It’s not like it’s sweater weather…

(Though my office is kept somewhat chilly, the entire idea of putting on a sweater – even indoors – makes me start to sweat.)
